The Private University of Applied Sciences Göttingen (PFH) started up its distance learning program in June 2005 with the study course of General Management (BWL), culminating in a Diplom Betriebswirt (FH) degree (diploma in General Management awarded by a university of applied sciences). The number of students and graduates by now totals over 1,300. Thus the distance learning study program has become a real model of success.

The curriculum and set up of the study program offer a high concentration of practical knowledge that promotes the careers of the graduates.After successful accreditation, the PFH will be offering four new distance learning study programs as of January 2010. The PFH wants to reach new target groups with this extended offer and provide interested students with a new opportunity to obtain a qualified university degree via a distance learning program. General Management students can obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree (180 ECTS), which qualifies them for positions in lower and middle management.

The General Management distance learning course culminating in a Master of Arts degree (120 ECTS) is a consecutive study course aimed at graduates of an economic science Bachelor study course with the achieved 180 ECTS. Based on knowledge attained in the first job-qualifying degree, students are provided with further management subject matter in the modules, which will qualify them for management positions.

The non-consecutive Advanced Management distance learning study program to obtain a Master of Arts degree (60 ECTS) is geared towards students that have either a German Diplom or Bachelor’s degree in economic science in which 240 ECTS have been achieved.

The Master of Business Administration distance learning study program that culminates in an MBA degree is aimed at university graduates of non-economic science study programs. Prerequisite for this study program is a job-qualifying university degree in any field of study as well as at least two years of professional experience.

Registration for our distance learning study program Diplom Betriebswirt (FH) (diploma in General Management awarded by a university of applied sciences) was possible until 31 December 2009. Now only a lateral entry into higher trimesters is possible.

The distance learning centers located in 9 different cities now provide students with shorter travelling distances for their attendance phases and with the service and advisory support of the university on location.
