With the startup of the Composites engineering science study courses in October 2006, Stade became the youngest university city in Lower Saxony. With the support of the city and politics, the university is continuing a dynamic further development of this campus by expanding student infrastructure.
The new CFK-Valley Stade campus study and training center is located in the district of Ottenbeck in close proximity to the Technology Center which also accommodates the CFK-Valley e. V. association. Located on a surface area of 3,000 sq.m. are a lecture hall for approx. 140 students, numerous seminar rooms and laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, offices and conference rooms for professors and lecturers and a cafeteria. More than 70 companies from all over Europe involved in carbon fibre composites are represented at this key technology location. Among other products, the Stade Airbus plant produces the vertical tail of the A380 here. All CFRP process chain stages including research, development, production and recycling take place in a single location.
Stade is a city that hovers between tradition and innovation. With its more than 1,000-year-old history and high density of high-tech industries, such seeming contradictions uniquely blend together in the city of Stade. As part of the expanding metropolitan region of Hamburg and situated directly at the Elbe River, Stade provides an ideal location for industry and science while offering its inhabitants of 45,000 the advantages of both a small town and a big city. Short distances for fast decision-making in politics, administration and business combined with an excellent infrastructure provide ideal conditions for initiatives and investments. Moreover, Stade's old town center, its cafés and numerous and interesting shops has a unique and charming character that creates a special atmosphere.
